Tessa is an up and coming Asian American artist. She spent 3 years on the road pursuing music in the indie genre. She then moved to Los Angeles to follow her music dreams. She made her debut into the Pop world with her self-written EP which featured her title track “Captive.”
She recently released her second music video titled “Rebel” off of her Rebel EP. In the music video Tessa and her gang of Rebels are preparing themselves for a dance battle against their rival gang. Dante Basco (Hook, Avatar: The Last Airbender) makes a cameo appearance as the leader of Teesa’s rival gang.
This video was actually inspired by Dante’s most iconic role, Rufio; who is a symbol of rebellious youth and staying young forver. Teesa explains why she wrote this song. She states, “What led me to write Rebel was actually my personal experience with being an Asian female in the music industry. They tell me I’m considered foreign territory. But I think it takes a rebel to change that ideal, so I’m going to fight to be who I am.”
She also plans on making appearances at dance clubs throughout Los Angeles in order to promote “Rebel.” Well enough said, check out the music video below and tell us what you think. Also, if you like what you hear you can purchase her album on iTunes.
